Opening of the show
The highly anticipated PGHS Improv show proved to be a great success. This is the first year the Wince and Repeat Improv troupe has been resurrected since its hiatus following the pandemic. Seniors Olivia Englehorn and Warren Frasenyak took it upon themselves to revive the club. It has become quite popular this year, boasting seventeen active members. Before the show, popcorn, candy, and hot chocolate were sold, with all contributions going directly to the Don Luce Scholarship. This scholarship awards students actively involved in PGHS Sea Wing productions. The Co-Presidents opened the evening with an introduction to the art of improvisation. Improv is a live performance in which the actors make up scenes, dialogue, and characters on the spot. Frasenyak and Englehorn also revealed their long-anticipated choice of next year’s president: Max Deegan. When asked why Deegan was chosen, Englehorn shared that, besides being hilarious, “Max Deegan is very responsible and he was the most involved underclassman in the club. I think he will do very well as president next year”.

Overall, the club put together a very entertaining night, including fan-favorite games like Freeze, Parody Jeopardy, and Scenes to Act. The club also introduced some new games, including the Statue Game, a game where the actors in a scene are moved by “puppeteers,” and the Alphabet Game, where the actors must start the beginning of each of their sentences with subsequent letters of the alphabet. Some highlights of the show include Nicholas Papp’s rap segment as “Dancing Doug”, and a fan favorite in which Aaron Ahmadi accidentally got stuck in a shopping cart during a scene with Papp. Luckily, Deegan came to his aid and pulled him from the shopping cart with minimal issues. When asked about the experience, Ahmadi shared that “It was a very embarrassing but funny moment for me and it made the crowd laugh so it worked out well”. The show ended with the Scenes to Act Championship, where Frasenyak and Deegan won over the audience with their comedic performance. Overall, the show was a hilariously chaotic evening to remember and was a great final performance from an immensely talented and comedic group of students.
