Robert Down 1st grade insects
Last Saturday, the annual Butterfly Parade fluttered through the sunny streets of Pacific Grove once again. The kindergarteners sported their traditional butterfly wings, shedding the TK caterpillar costume from last year. Following the kindergarteners, an assortment of Robert Down 1st grade insects came buzzing about, ranging from red ladybugs to yellow bees. The Forest Grove 1st graders floated their way through the streets, using sea creatures to represent their class.

Next up were the 2nd grade painters and otters, painting a smile on spectators’ faces as they walked by. The Forest Grove 3rd graders were dressed head to toe in Hawaiian attire, embracing the last few days of summer weather. Meanwhile the Robert Down 3rd graders embraced the farmer’s life, planting fresh fruits and vegetables wherever they went. The 4th graders had a different goal in mind, searching for gold and new land, going back to the pioneer days. Finally, standing out in the parade, were the 5th graders, sporting bright neon colors for their last year as elementary students.Â

Our very own football team participated, riding on a truck decorated with their names. The Dance Team walked closely behind, performing a unique routine for the onlooking crowd, followed by the marching band, their music floating behind them as they moved along through the streets. The class floats made an appearance, carrying the senior homecoming king and queen, Milo Nothnagle and Yeva Yevdash. Last in the assortment, and bringing the parade to a close, were the Pacific Grove High School alumni, representing a different era of students who walked the same halls we do. Another successful Butterfly Parade comes to a close, another parade to remember.
