Finals week! Finals week is the week most students dread for the entire semester, but there is nothing to be afraid of if you listen to these tips given by students. One tip that I would give students is to try and study in advance rather than trying to cram the entire semester in one night. Spreading your studying out also helps you understand which concepts are more difficult for you to understand. Fellow senior, Grace Gorman, says that she creates a plan for what to study each day and creates mini tasks she gets to accomplish every day so she doesn’t get overwhelmed. Isa Jones, another senior, says that she prioritizes her more challenging finals and decides to dedicate more time to those. Jasmine Booker, a junior, says that her finals study tip is to make sure she eats breakfast before her finals and makes fun study options so she remains engaged. Dylan Llantero, a sophomore, explains that office hours are key to being successful in her classes. Another study tip is to go somewhere that creates a productive environment with your friends so you can all study together. Some places seniors recommend are BookWorks located on Lighthouse, Starbucks, and Cafe Guarani on Central Avenue. In addition, active recall, or teaching your friends the material, helps you remember the information. If you are struggling in a particular class, teachers hold office hours in the morning and afternoon on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Ultimately, the most important thing to remember is that you are perfectly capable of performing well and if you get a grade that is similar to your average, then your grade won’t change too much!
