Spring has sprung which means softball season is in full swing! Softball tryouts occurred during the beginning of February and there was an amazing turnout, so much so that this year we have a junior varsity and varsity team. The varsity team is composed of eleven girls from a variety of grades – three freshmen, one sophomore, three juniors, and four seniors. The softball team came out with a bang against Pajaro Valley winning 20 – 0. In their next game, the Breakers faced a minor setback falling 7 – 12 against Monterey, who has won CCS two out of the last three years and even won State three years ago.
After shaking off this loss, the softball team is looking forward to their upcoming games against Aptos (3/11) and Alvarez (3/12) next week.
In the past, the varsity softball team has been to the playoffs the past three years and even the CCS final game two years ago. The team hopes to continue their past success during the regular season and into the playoffs!
