PGHS Dance Team: Breaker Girls By Meredith Evans

If you’ve ever been to a football game or attended a school rally, chances are you’ve seen the Breaker Girls Dance Team in action. Whether they’re dazzling the crowd with their velvet unitards and sparkling pom poms at halftime routines or hyping up the rallies with hip-hop dances, the Breaker Girls are a powerhouse of talent and school spirit.

As a year-round sport, the Breaker Girls Dance Team is a dedicated group of dancers from 9-12th that spends countless hours drilling routines across a variety of styles created by coach Tatum May. From contemporary and jazz to hip hop and pom, they bring a diverse array of performances to PGHS students and the local community. Their performances at school events help build school pride, while their competitive spirit pushes them to strive for excellence on the competition stage around California.

This year, the team will attend several competitions across the state, and they have already placed 2nd in both Pom and Hip Hop at competitions in  Fresno and Stockton. In addition to their busy performance schedule, the Breaker Girls will host their own Winter Showcase later this month, a highly anticipated event that highlights the dancers’ routines that they choreographed themselves. This allows the community to see firsthand the dedication and talent of these dancers.

The Breaker Girls Dance Team is not just about perfecting their craft—it’s about making lasting memories, building a strong sense of camaraderie, and bringing energy to PGHS and beyond. Be sure to catch one of their performances and experience the passion they bring to every routine!
