Halloween this year in Pacific Grove High was a fun time, with both teachers and students participating. The day had the additional excitement of a Halloween football game against Soledad, which raised expectations for this year’s costumes.

Student-wise, a big group of the Spanish exchange students all teamed up and dressed as ninja turtles with green onesies, eye masks, and a shell, making them one of the most recognizable groups not only during the school day but also at the football game later that evening. Athletics were also a big theme on campus as students dressed up as Lamine Yamal, Kyliam Mbappe, Lebron James, and Steph Curry. Lastly, the performative male group was very recognizable with their homemade matcha and thrifted sweaters. They took on a trendy look as they could be spotted with their Trader Joe’s tot bags all through campus. Daren Light, one of the “performative males,” joked that the matcha tasted “as bad as it looks.”
Teachers also had a blast, some on theme with the subject they taught, and some a little more creative. Math and Computer Science teacher Mr Ruben showed up in a Charizard onesie, showing us that adults can still have fun with their costumes. More on the theme was Mrs. Bulich, an English teacher, with her Nancy Drew Costume, referencing the character in the world-renowned novels, Nancy Drew Mystery Stories.

Finally, outside of PG, Halloween had some creative displays in pop culture. The Biebers, along with their son, dressed up as the Incredibles. Haidi Klum went with a more scary option as Medusa, with a crown and snake head, and Megan Fox wore the classic yellow jumpsuit with black stripes and carried a toy katana sword.
All in all, Halloween was a blast if you were in PG or outside; it was a night to remember.
