This holiday season brings many fun and engaging events to our area. There are many different events to attend in the coming weeks, and each brings its own flair. Here are a few options, along with their descriptions.
One event happening this holiday season is the annual Christmas in the Adobes in Monterey. Not only is it for a good cause, raising money for State Park’s educational programs, it is also an entertaining way to see the historic Adobes beautifully decorated. There will be music and festivities for visitors to experience as they walk around, and workers will be dressed in historic attire. This event is from 5pm to 9pm on the evenings of December 12 and 13.
Another choice for holiday events is watching the Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer play in Carmel. This show has been put on for multiple years, and it is always worth taking the time to see. The play features a primarily child cast, so viewers get to see adorable little elves and reindeer prance around on stage. The show is a great rendition of the classic movie, and it is a wonderful way to celebrate the Christmas season. 3pm shows are available to see Saturdays and Sundays from November 29 until December 21.
A fun option for people who enjoy staying active is the annual Run Rudolph Run. This event is sponsored by the Arthritis Research Coalition to help raise awareness and defeat arthritis, so it is a great way to support a good cause. Additionally, participants like to dress up in holiday attire, making it a festive way for the community to get together. If one doesn’t wish to participate, there are also volunteer options available, such as helping at the water station, handing out the medals, and assisting in the kid zone. If you do wish to take part in the activity, there is a kid’s 1k and a run/walk 5k available, and it takes place at 7:30am at Lover’s Point Park, December 13.
There are also showings of The Nutcracker at Carmel’s Sunset Cultural Center from December 12 to 14. This classic holiday performance features young local dancers from the Monterey Peninsula Ballet Theatre who have been preparing for the show since late summer. The audience follows Clara’s journey through enchanting scenes with snowflakes, sweets, and magic, making it a perfect family friendly experience.
